Occupying a peninsula between the Sakonnet River and Rhoda Island sound, the 242 acre Sachuest a point National Wildlife Refuge is renowned for its fantastic saltwater Fishing, and the presence of the largest winter population of harlequin ducks 🦆 on the East Coast.
My new favorite place for my jogs early morning. It has such a good breeze, beautiful birds and deer! After the restoration of the new pathways I don’t see as many deer as I use to. There would be so many! Some even go on the path and watch you walk by. There is a visitors center where there is just one bathroom.
If you want to do a seacoast hike, this is the one to do. Awesome views and lots of wildlife. The Visitor Center hours are not the same as access hours to your walk. Park itself is open from sunrise to sunset daily.
Pristine details of nature are revealed on our magnificent walk through this National Wildlife Refuge. Along the way we enjoyed witnessing deer, bunnies and seagulls who call the Refuge home. A great place to appreciate nature. Be sure to breathe deeply because the air is the freshest here.
