Confirmed from Sacramento River Trail at South Diestelhorst Bridge Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Very good ride from court street in Redding to shasta dam is 30 miles round trip Take plenty of food and water The earlier you go the better it will be

★★★★★ — Steve , Oct 2021

From this point to the ribbon bridge it is a very nice walk. About a little under halfway out to the bridge though you will run out of shade, so bring water. The peace wheel along the way there is very serene, with a nice spot to cool off next to a creek.

★★★★☆ — Pajama , Sep 2017

A fantastic resource for Redding. A classic multi use bike path with lots of trails intersecting it. Good for walking, running and cycling. Trail is right along the river most of the way and surrounded by mature trees in some stretches.

★★★★★ — Jay , Jan 2026

One of Redding iconic photo destinations and river trail start and end locations. Want a great photo sunset location for you and your favorite person ...this it. You can watch otters playing below the bridge, fish jumping completely out of the water. Many species of bird frolic here as well. You won’t be disappointed.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
