Confirmed from Salamonie Lake's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Salamonie Lake

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (431 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Campground is clean and decently spaced, would be rated higher if they had water on each site”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“It's just a beautiful trail that gives you breath taking scenery.”

On the way back home to the Indianapolis area from a state park even further north, I primarily stopped here to check out the mountain biking trails I had read about.

I honestly just love this place, 3 Falls Trail is probably my favorite trail in northeast Indiana. It's just a beautiful trail that gives you breath taking scenery. Another one of my favorite things to do at Salamonie is catching a sunset or rise on the dam. Absolutely beautiful!

Nice variety of trails. I enjoyed the tree trail since it's pretty informative. I definitely will be visiting again once the leaves are back for the full experience.

We stayed on the Bloodroot Trail near the South trail head by Mt. Etna. A wonderful campsite that worked great for our hammocks! The views from Site #6 are our favorite! The vault (pit) toilet is about a mile away by the boat launch. The ground is really tough to dig for a cat hole. Enjoy your stay!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
