Confirmed from Salt Creek Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Salt Creek Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (186 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“It's a very pleasant place I go there to wipe my car down and do my wheels and it's always very beautiful there I recommended it for picnics or just being outside.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 6 mentions

“It's discreet and peaceful, not many parking but still nice to enjoy the weather while exercising”

A nice little forest preserve with a walking/biking path. The creek does flood after a lot of rain or melting snow.

This is a small Dupage country preserve that is right off the Salt Creek Greenway trail. The only bike friendly path is the one short one that goes into the preserve right off the trail. There is big spaces and a few setting areas as well with bathrooms.

★★★★☆ — Travelfan96 , Apr 2023

It's a nice park with a little bit of varied terrain. It is very nice that there is an old fashioned water pump along with toilet facilities. After visiting today and walking about 3 miles of the longer Salt Creek trail, I'm looking forward to exploring more of the trail and the parks along it.

★★★★☆ — Matt , Mar 2019

Small perserve . I believe there is a way to rent a kayak here to go kayaking on your own. Careful , sometimes this place will flood pretty badly during heavy rain. Well maintained and washroom available. No running water.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
