Confirmed from San Angelo State Park, South Entrance's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about San Angelo State Park, South Entrance

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (207 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“This place is gorgeous I cannot wait to go back and do some hiking.”

Large camp divided into several sections with varied options for RV and tent camping. Restrooms were old but functional. Noted several concrete paths, stairways, and boat lauches that were no longer maintained but accessible. Sites were dirt and grass, some had picnic shelters, fire pits and grills.

★★★★☆ — Jean , May 2021

Great place to see deer, armadillos, javelinas, and bison! Lots of trails. Great for hiking and mountain biking.

★★★★★ — Todd , Dec 2024

Nice local place to go hiking, also the bison and longhorns are pretty cool.

★★★★★ — Sasha , Dec 2021

This state park is beautiful. The people manning the front office is friendly. We didn't get to see the animals while we were visiting but there was plenty of wildflowers on the trail and camping areas. The book nook is a nice addition to the park. I hope they keep it there and it gets updated as people pass by.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
