Confirmed from San Jacinto Wildlife Area - Potrero Unit's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about San Jacinto Wildlife Area - Potrero Unit
“Beautiful nature n it goes all the way to the Saboba Indian reservation in the south end.”
Very interesting, hisdtoric point of interest I stumbled upon hiking in the area! Not only is the kangaroo rat protected, but this area was also a test site for rocket launches in the early stages of the Space Program. However, those areas are still restricted. Beautiful chappareal hiking views, in a peaceful area.
Didn't actually go to this establishment, but was in that area for a day on a job and it is a secluded place with lots of rocky hills. Would be great for a hike. I'd beware of snakes in hot weather. Spoke with a nearby resident and he said there are mountain lions, bobcats, and coyote habitat.
It's a enjoyable walk of nature. It's been awhile since last walk. The hawks were fun to watch. It's a walk that I will start doing.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
