Confirmed from Sankofa Wetland Park & Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wetland area featuring walking paths amid native plants and trees as well as fauna, with picnic tables.
What runners say about Sankofa Wetland Park & Nature Trail
“I found Sankofa Park while I was out in New Orleans East and just wanted a short walk somewhere quiet.”
I loved this hidden away gem. Good: long nature trail, with lots of diverse wildlife and opportunities to admire the local flora and fauna. There are various nature walk signs along the main trail. There are various benches and picnic tables scattered throughout the nature trail.
Even to a visiting outsider, it's obvious there's a community that's put a lot of love into making this little strip of could-be-wasteland into something full of joyful life.
Short trail. There were not many birds today. I’m guessing due to the cold front coming to town. They’re also no alligators when I went. There’s a small part of the park that’s under construction. There is only street parking. It was not busy on a Monday
Enjoyed a morning walk here with the kiddos. Small and peaceful nature getaway for our family when staying in Arabi.
