Confirmed from Savage Fen Scientific & Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly nature preserve featuring trails.
What runners say about Savage Fen Scientific & Natural Area
“Beautiful trail through woods.”
“Love this place, nice quiet and lots of raw nature.”
This is a little hidden gem of a park. It’s got everything. There is a river that runs very steady. The trees are thick all along the pathways. There are marsh views and forest views. All through the forest there are small paths going off into the forest.
Great place to walk dogs and get out of the house, I rarely see other people down here and the access road is a easy walk. On street parking is limited, but never crowded. Full of nature and very peaceful and secluded.
Found lots of Giant White Puffball mushrooms on today's hike. Beautiful trail through woods.
Nice area. 100 yards of trail. Found a nest on the ground the four broken eggs.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
