Confirmed from Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (338 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“Mostly shaded by trees , so great for a hike on a hot day, and with fall setting in, the trees are beautiful fall shades!”

This place is a magical kept secret. I swear not a lot of people know about it. I walk my dog here almost every other night and the patrol guys even check on you often. It’s a peaceful place with awesome trails and really gives you a chance to explore nature. My kids and I love going and so does my dog!

Such a hole in the wall type hike. You'd never know such a beautiful spot was right here unless you found it online or heard about it. Decided to take all the trails today and had a blast! Great views, the quarry is amazing and almost feels like another world. Definitely coming back sometime to adventure here again!

Lovely scenery and great natural trails! Mostly shaded by trees , so great for a hike on a hot day, and with fall setting in, the trees are beautiful fall shades! Even has an area you can repel down into the quarry. You have to bring your own equipment and sign a waiver ( you just put into the dropbox).

There are 3 very different paths here. I didn’t see much wild life but there were trails in the woods, in the flowers and over rocks. The sign isn’t kidding there are some steep drop offs so don’t ignore them. Bathrooms were clean and other hikers were incredibly friendly.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
