Confirmed from Shingle Creek Trail: Pine Island East Loop's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This 3.4-mile trail for hikers, runners & mountain-bikers offers a river with canoe access.
What runners say about Shingle Creek Trail: Pine Island East Loop
“The creek is peaceful, and the loud speakers from the school grounds make it feel like you are in a post-apocalyptic war zone.”
This is one of my favorite trails in central Florida. We park behind the hunters creek middle school (only accessible when school is not in session). We enter on the far right section, cross the bridge, and go right. Once you leave the wooded area you make a left and continue down until you reach the trail entrance.
The trailhead marker is wrong as others have stated. We parked on Tarragona Street to enter the trail. Enjoyed it very much on a cold, October weekday morning. Saw at least 10 different deer along the way and many birds, no gators but was probably too cold for them to be out and about.
Lot of wildlife. Gators, Turtles, Osceola wild Turkeys, Heron, Ibis, Sandhil crane, Wood stork and more..Very serene walk or bike path. Enjoy it
Hiked 11/24/2023. Some parts under humming high power lines. East quarter mile of East Pine Island loop swampy from rains a couple weeks ago. Lots of birds. Nice picnic area.
