Confirmed from Skyline Regional Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Skyline Regional Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,645 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 9 mentions

“The moderate parts are just steeper sections with switchbacks up to ridges and down to valleys, still well maintained.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 13 mentions

“Love this place, whether you are looking for something easy and a 2 hours 1200ft elevation gain with tons of different terrain with great views this place has it all.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“Good for shorter and longer hikes, trails are well marked and maintained, easy to moderate.”

My family and I always enjoy the hiking here at Skyline Park. We have only done easy to moderate hiking and only on foot. There are trails available for horses and more trails that are longer and harder than I’ve done. The views are stunning and we really enjoy the early morning hiking.

In all transparancy....Fairly nice campground. Only 3.3 miles up the hill from Buckeye (that has every store imaginable). Quiet nights. It is quite small, with only 7 reservable spots. Bathrooms. I like that the gate stays open until 10 pm. Quite busy in the mornings as people park to go hiking.

This is a great, well kept park, and that isn't crowded at all like other trails I've been to in Arizona. It's really easy to find, and the roads leading to the campgrounds and main trails are in great shape. Even with the variety of trails offered at the park.

Edit - we came back and did the Mountain Wash, Skyline Crest, and looped back on Quartz Mine to the parking. It was GREAT! The views are spectacular. It was over 4 miles total, but even the 4 year old was able to keep up.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
