Confirmed from Soldier Spring Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Lighted athletic fields are offered at this open space situated on a former Confederate encampment.
What runners say about Soldier Spring Park
“Some are well maintained and other trails are not well maintained.”
“Beautiful, respectful monuments and plaques are offered in the park that's great for quiet reflection or a picnic.”
“I love the mix of paved trails and gravel, shade and open meadows.”
“Nice park in a nice area, good sidewalk for walking, quiet during early part of the day and early afternoon.”
I walk in this park 2 or 3 days a week. I love the mix of paved trails and gravel, shade and open meadows. Lots of wildflowers in the spring. Some areas have views of the surrounding area and down into the town. The portion of the park east of Thrush St is undergoing a transformation into a Veterans Memorial.
Park has several trails! Most are shaded!! Some are well maintained and other trails are not well maintained. Honestly the paved area could use a new surface. The part that honors local soldiers is excellent.
It was a really interesting place. I only thought it was the trail leading up to it because it is tucked away behind normal view. But after walking along the path for a little bit I reached the actual park. It was a really tranquil memorial to local soldiers who have lost their lives in service.
A place of beauty and reverance... every child toddler and up should comprehend why they are FREE... when we forget that America dies... my opinion... So take the kids explain what it means walk the beautiful park and enjoy the freedom they bought you...

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
