Confirmed from Southwest Family Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Clean park featuring baseball and softball fields, plus a playground.
What runners say about Southwest Family Park
“A very nice clean park to spend your days with sports groups such as adult softball teams.”
Easy to get to! Great for toddlers! So blessed to have such a nice clean, safe, well kept park in our town. Lots of equipment for kids to choose from. Swings for big and littles, slides and jungle gyms. Lots of open space for running, playing and discovering.
I walk the dog here, and so do the surrounding neighborhoods. We walk behind the housing authority by the baseball diamond and smaller play scape. There is a bigger nicer play scape across the street from the housing authority. This is where Windsor Locks has its 4th of July Carnival and fireworks display.
A very nice clean park to spend your days with sports groups such as adult softball teams. Great for kids too due to the area to run and the small but nice playground. Super big, clean and calming.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
