What a neat place - a lot of history. This is sort of a hidden gem. If I had not turned one street early to cross the bridge I would have missed it. This site is located on the east side of US-1 just 1 block south of SR 406 ( the Max Brewer Memorial Bridge). It stretches from US-1 all the way to the river.
There’s something quietly powerful about Space View Park. We spent most of our time in the memorial plaza along US-1 — reading the plaques, standing at the memorials, the Challenger and Columbia tribute, tracing history in bronze and stone. It’s beautifully done and deeply moving. What I didn’t realize (and wish I had!
This park is a great location to see rocker launches from Kennedy Space Center. But this is also the public park that pays memorial to fallen astronauts and living astronauts. There's multiple areas of the park that represent memorial of the first astronauts up through the shuttle program.
Beautiful park with a great view across the water. Perfect spot to watch launches from SLC40 and take in the monuments to past space programs. Lots of birds (and mosquitoes) and the shade is great. There’s a walking trail around the edge, and lots of parking, as well.
