We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Start of Toothpick Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Start of Toothpick Trail
Lived here my whole life and only just discovered this trail ! Amazing majestic woods, wildflowers and wild edibles abundant, just a lovely place to soak in nature atop a mountain -- and also really easy to get to, for someone with low energy who can't hike all the way up to the mountains from town.
Toothpick Trail is a tale of two halves. The first quarter is a steep uphill climb that was moderately difficult. Once you conquer that, the trail levels out, making for a more enjoyable hike. However, beware of mountain bikers! They fly downhill at breakneck speeds, often ignoring hikers.
It was an awesome Trail we'll definitely have to do it again later this year
