Confirmed from Sterling Ridge Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Sterling Ridge Trailhead
One of my favorite trails in my favorite hiking park. I wish I could go every day but... the hike is around 6 miles loop from parking on the top of 17a. There are many trails in Sterling forest for any skill level and distance. The trails are usually well-maintained. There were a couple of down trees.
A gravel parking for ~10-12 cars. Around 8 am on Sunday at the end of April there was only one other car. There are two trails that start here. The Allis/Highland/Sterling ridge trail that goes all the way to NJ in one direction and to the Appalachian Trail and Doris Duke trail in the other (across 17a road) .
Very hiker friendly. Super helpful at the welcome center, and very well signed trails. Highly recommended.
Adequate parking. Something with 4WD is needed on some days, though. Trails are well blazed and defined.
