Confirmed from Stoney Run County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Large playground, plus dirt and wooded trails for hiking and wildlife viewing, plus picnic tables.

What runners say about Stoney Run County Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (342 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“The western portion of the trail is a bit more scenic as you trek through many hills left over by the glaciers.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“It’s very quiet usually and the nature surrounding you is very peaceful there.”

The playground is terrific for kids. It is not Lemon Lake playground, but it is a top notch park. The perimeter trail is a hidden gem and well worth the trek. Sections of it stay muddy in the most dry of times, so wear appropriate footwear.

This was my first time visiting. Definitely pretty with plenty to do. There was so much space, I just followed while the dog wandered and explored. Creek was completely dried up but there were a few people fishing in the pond--and according to the trail map, there's two other ponds on the property, back in the woods.

We were hesitant to visit this Park because of a few negative reviews. I'm glad we decided to go, and make our own opinion. We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty. Yes, flowers were absent where they used to be, (this is our 1st time here and we saw pictures of flowers in older posts) but it was still very nice.

Great county park located in SE Lake County. There are plenty of things for the family, including walking trails and a nice playground.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
