Confirmed from Stookey Township Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Stookey Township Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (131 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 9 mentions

“The park is pretty clean and it wasn't crowded at all.”

I love this little treasure of a park! It has two nice playgrounds, great walking path and a dog park. The new Stookey supervisor and board with the help of community is really working hard to bring it back to it's best life!

Small park but it has alot of things in it. It has a dog park. It has a children's playground. It has a walking trail! It has a picnic area. Parking is good! It has an open field for playing in the grass! I do sightseeing here while walking the trail. This park is clean and safe!

This park has a well maintained walking trail. It has some hills. A mix of sunny and shaded areas. There is a grassy area, restrooms, playground and trail exercise stations. The trail is a quarter mile, so it's not a huge park. It's usually very quiet.

My puppy and I had a nice walk. The park is pretty clean and it wasn't crowded at all. I did notice a swimming pool on-site and exercise machines along our walk.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
