Confirmed from Strawberry Lake Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Strawberry Lake Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (43 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“But the hike was beautiful and it was a good moderate hike to get back into the season.”

Great hike! About 3 miles straight up the mountain to the lake. Well maintained trail. Parking area is small, but we didn't have any trouble finding a spot. Views are amazing, wish there wasn't so much smoke from the fires.

★★★★★ — Sheyenne , Aug 2021

Great hike or just a drive to the trailhead too! Contrary to another review, this road (5390) is open to vehicular traffic unless it is gated. It may not be passable at times (winter/spring) but the risk is yours. The posted sign referred to pertains to NFS lands...to the nw of 5390, in Krause basin.

★★★★☆ — Mtmadman , Dec 2020

6.25.2022. Last 2 miles of road impassable without awd vehicle with high ground clearance due to a deep culvert in the road with lots of soupy mud. A few mud holes. There's some road parking 2 miles out. Walked 2 miles to trailhead.

★★★★☆ — Keirsten , Jun 2022

Parking is limited to maybe 8 cars, the road to get to the parking is 3 miles long, gravel, and lots of deep pot holes. The trail is a moderate hike with beautiful scenery, views for days! 2.5 hr hike up, 1.5 hr down. Strawberry lake is at the top of the mountain, it’s great for swimming.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
