Confirmed from Sunrise Park & Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Sunrise Park & Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (56 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“I didn't go through the whole trail because I biked out there from Renton but it is a beautiful area!”

This is one of my favorite places to walk my dog. It’s shaded most of the way, paved road, and connects to the i90 trail. You cross a bridge at the beginning and then it’s a gradual uphill climb. Walkers, bicyclists and runners use this trail.

This is a very beautiful place 🙂 It's an easy trail to walk. I took my young kids with me & we had an amazingly awesome time 😎 ♥

★★★★★ — Amalia , Jan 2021

It's nice the trail is short but connects to others making it a nice option

★★★★☆ — Charlene , Sep 2023

The trail is good for walking or cycling. There are no animals on the trail but I did encounter a snake. There is a lot of noise on the trail from the freeway right next to it.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Sunrise Park & Trailhead

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
