Confirmed from Sunrise Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly park with trails for walking, biking, and horseback riding, plus picnic areas.
What runners say about Sunrise Trailhead
Sunrise Trailhead was a positive experience. I followed the light paved trail which loops around. I walked my dog on this paved trail in approximately 1 hour 15 minutes a distance of 3.25 miles. At 3/4 of the way this trail does connect you to the Nature Preserve at Wetlands park by a bridge.
been riding this trail for years , sucks all the out of town people moving in are using it as a landfield it was not like this 3 years ago RESPECT THE DESERT BRO !
Best bike trail out here! Beautiful scenery, water, ducks, a river... what more could you want
It's a nice path to walk when it is nice out (less than 100°). Saw a snake once and i usually see a few lizards. It's a pretty peaceful area to walk around. Just be sure to bring water.

Plan your run at Sunrise Trailhead
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
