Confirmed from Sunset Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Sunset Trailhead
“5 miles but very well maintained.”
“Great views, steep and gnarly descent on the bike, if you are hiking up it, watch out for cyclists, it's a fast and tight trail.”
“I didn't make sunset, so maybe I failed the point of the trail, but it was indeed nice and peaceful, so much more to see on mountain up close rather than what you see from a car!”
I went to hike but this is an excellent place for mountain bikers. People up there are very friendly and helpful. The trails are well maintained. Please follow "leave no trace" principles while recreating.

Great experience all around. The trail is nice and the scenery is just breathtaking. If you enjoy nature then come explore and you will be glad you did. Thanks again
Beautiful place to trail run. Little bit hilly on the way up but nice down hill run once you make it to the top.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
