Confirmed from Tate Woods Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Tate Woods Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (79 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Netting is on the fencing to help with wind and keep in mind minimal shade.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“However, it is NOT a good place to take a PEACEFUL/QUIET walk, unless you enjoy the noises of the passing traffic from the tollway that divides the park into two sections.”

👍🏿👍🏿 This is a nice park for a baseball game, a tennis match, or a climb on the playground equipment. However, it is NOT a good place to take a PEACEFUL/QUIET walk, unless you enjoy the noises of the passing traffic from the tollway that divides the park into two sections. 🚛 🚒 🚗

★★★★☆ — John , Dec 2021

Small loop for walking around tennis courts, a baseball field, half basketball court, and playground. Very loud, by the highway.

★★★★☆ — Laura , Sep 2020

Cute little park. Seems well maintained. Nice little tennis courts. Not the biggest park & not a ton of play equipment for kids necessarily, but a nice place to walk around or take your dogs. Clean and in a safe neighborhood. Go visit if you're close by.

★★★★★ — Erik , Dec 2023

Awesome, quite, great park with a Basketball court, 2 Tennis courts, Baseball field, open space big enough for soccer or any other sport that requires open space, great playground and a nice trails around the park.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🚻 Restrooms 5 mentions

“The only thing I did not notice was if there was a washroom/ porta potty on the property or a water fountain since I didn't need one.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
