We really enjoyed our first hike here wit Mike. The pace was perfect for me & for my 8 yo. He was very knowledgeable & welcomed all questions, very pleasant experience we got to participate in through Peoria Park District.
Great little place to hike. Quite a bit of elevation and love the little switchbacks on the trail. Beautiful fall colors. I would highly recommend.
Tawny Oaks is sort of like "Forest Park North." The Park District acquired it fairly recently, and its trails are all new. The bird watching here is excellent: red-headed woodpeckers and eastern bluebirds are very common here.
Excellent not too steep. We walked the big loop for 5 miles. If weather permits, I will come back again this year.
