Confirmed from Taxter Ridge's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🪧 well-marked 3 mentions

“Each trail is clearly marked and it has alternative paths to ensure that you can get a different view on your way back to your starting point.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 7 mentions

“During the week it's relatively quiet park so you can walk in silence and enjoy a little bit of nature.”

Discovered this preserve while on a morning walk (past a residential area) on a highway so thought I’d give it a shot! The trail I picked was not too long or overly challenging (gentle uphill and downhill was nice).

Gorgeous gorgeous trail! Clearly marked paths, lots of wildlife, boulder walls etc. Just be careful. Google leads you to some estate for the trailhead. It's a private property. I feel bad for the guard cause he deals with people looking for the trail alot. So go around to the preserve parking and can get in there!

Beautiful and quiet forest to hike. My only complain is that trail doesn't circle around to the parking lot. We had to hike the trail back the way we came.

Taxter Ridge park. Very nice park in woods: for hiking only. Well marked. Trails go up and down hills. My dog and I had a great time. Parking on Taxter Road.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
