We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Temple Canyon Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area featuring trails, slot canyons, and wildlife such as bears, mountain lions, and rattlesnakes.
What runners say about Temple Canyon Trailhead
“Love the trails and the river was very pretty, and clean as well.”
“One of the most beautiful hikes and the Temple will take your breath away!”
This was a wonderfully clean, awesome hike. Be ready. Going in is a hard hike down, then you go through a stream, then coming back is the opposite. A hard hike up. Bring water, good shoes, and time to rest if needed. But seeing the temple is so worth it.
Lamba&hotshot loop was a great walk! Lots of rocks at times boots be good for it!...covered in alotbpf snow 12inches in some spots! Made for a challenging hike!
Really cool desert scenery. I wouldn't hike it in the summer, it gets way too hot.
Some things to prepare for seeing Temple canyon. The hike is pretty treacherous, very steep incline so go slow. It's not too far though. Be careful of snakes are everywhere. When you get to bottom there is Grape creek. Turn right fallow til you see a clearing on both side of creek.
