Confirmed from The Barn & Trailside Community Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Public park with a pond, walking paths, and a barn that hosts events.
What runners say about The Barn & Trailside Community Park
“Well kept very clean nice spot to visit or walk.”
“Beautiful lake and walking paths with plenty of comfortable seating areas to relax and enjoy the scenery along the way (they are also well lit at night).”
A few days ago I was sitting at the barn for a memorial service for friend of mine that had passed away after a long battle of cancer. As I said outside with the water misters going I had a moment to look around and I understood how fortunate I was because not everywhere in Phoenix looks like this.
Play Pokemon go there, nice lake and trails, outdoor market on Wednesday but I think the merchants charge to much. Nice pool but the pool is for residents. Picnic table area under cover, and ducks! Well kept very clean nice spot to visit or walk.
Trailside park is easily reachable in the Ashburn area. It is located just off of Claiborne Pkwy. If your children are more active, you can ride on the W&OD trail to get to it. It is a great place to take young children and watch them run around and play.
What a hidden gem this place is! A friend told me about this place recently and I checked it out. Beautiful lake and walking paths with plenty of comfortable seating areas to relax and enjoy the scenery along the way (they are also well lit at night). Good for walking, biking, jogging and sitting.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
