Confirmed from The Empire State Trail NivervilleTrailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about The Empire State Trail NivervilleTrailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (20 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Nice trail on which a trolley used to run (thus the name “Electric Trail,” which does not refer to the overhanging electrical lines). There is paved parking for eight cars, and a rack for about four bicycles.

What a great trail to walk during the spring especially by Lake Kinderhook. Take your time to read the plaques along the trail to see the great local history including the trolley and amusement park. Fun watching a plane land and take off on the lake

Great parking area to access trail. Please be aware that the Knollwood address is wrong but Google wouldn't publish my correction. You can set your GPS for the posted address but when you get there don't make any turns and the parking lot entrance is immediately next, or before, depending on your origin point.

Crews are keeping trail well groomed! Love this lakeside view. Parking easy for walkers, bikers & skaters!!! Must visit for a great trail trip😉

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
