Confirmed from The Hill Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Beautiful trails! Rarely do I encounter anyone while out for a little trek. Well maintained and offers a variety of views and vegetation changes. Highly recommend if you're looking for a leisurely cross-country hike. Kids and pet friendly.

This Nature Preserve is lovely. It has hard packed and well marked trails through pine forests and clearings. On Trail 8 you see views of Lake. Charlevoix and there is a raspberry patch, too. You can hear birds and other animals. It was serene and we didn't see anyone else while we were there.

Did night ski at the Hill preserve and really enjoyed the quiet, the nightscape views, the opportunity for off-trail Glade skiing, and the creature that rapidly and quietly blurred through the woods, leaving these tracks behind...

★★★★★ — Kevin , Nov 2018

We walked three loops on the trail. The paths are very well marked and kept up. The preserve was not crowded; we only met one couple and a man and his dog. Very enjoyable.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
