Confirmed from The Park At New Melle Lakes' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (90 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 16 mentions

“The park is great with long paved trails for hiking and a beautiful big lake with several smaller lakes.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“This is such a serene, quiet place to walk, sit and just be.”

This is such a serene, quiet place to walk, sit and just be. I've taken my dogs here before also. Visited Memorial Day weekend and there were quite a few fisherman, lots of people with their dogs and people playing disc golf. My mom and I were just here to walk and picnic.

★★★★★ — Kristin , May 2024

A large park with a few short paved trails intersecting. For the most part the trails have views of the water which is nice. A great place to visit.

★★★★★ — J.R. , Sep 2023

Nice, large park with a few miles of paved trails for walking and running (suitable for bikes, as well). The kids enjoyed the storybook walk that is set up by the county library. Plenty of space to fish (catch and release only) around the perimeter of the main lake and several smaller ones. Kayaks available to rent.

★★★★☆ — Ryan , Jun 2022

Lovely park with miles of paved trails. Gently rolling hills with lake views, open fields and wooded areas offer a nice variety for walking or biking. The park also has a great frisbee golf course and areas for catch and release fishing. I'll definitely be back!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
