Confirmed from The Preserve Staging Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area featuring varied trails that are good for kids.
What runners say about The Preserve Staging Area
“3 mile loop with a great view of Dublin and Pleasanton.”
This is a great hidden gem to hike. My kids love it and I love taking them here. The trail is rated as easy, but I always get a good workout in and feel like I did something to exercise.
Amazing short hike. A few step hills, but great views and quiet spaces
Short and neat trail along the ridge (not very high). The trail itself isn't very wide and surrounded by grasslands (i.e. the preserve), though it's very beautiful. You end up getting a unique and pretty shot of Pleasanton/Dublin.
This is a diverse and interesting hike in a convenient location. Less than 2 miles, with connecting trails for longer hikes, and minor altitude changes to make it interesting. Many views, depending on position and time of day. The location would work for many. Please note that some areas can get slippery.
