Confirmed from The Sabbath Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about The Sabbath Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (69 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“while a bit challenging to find/get to, this well maintained trail has reflection points for the Sabbath day, it's history, and relevance for today.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Beautiful walking trail near Southern Adventist University.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Along the trail there are several rock engraved Bible-verse nuggets that really add to the beauty and peaceful stroll.”

My coati and I enjoyed hiking here. It’s beautiful and has extensive trails. Unfortunately the bathroom and parking lot are still under construction and have been for a couple years. I guess all Southern’s money is being used on things they deem more important.

★★★★☆ — Christopher , Sep 2024

The trail as stated by the name focuses on God’s people in relation to the Sabbath. Along the trail are plaques that tell the story of the Sabbath. It’s educational and relaxing. The hike is very easy. The parking situation is tricky, but they are building a new parking area.

★★★★☆ — Jack , Apr 2023

This was an easily accessible Trail. Decent trail surface with mostly small rocks and dirt, and some elevation changes. Great little walk the woods, very peaceful. Right next to other trails, so one could get more mileage in if this trail is too short...see trail map pic.

★★★★☆ — Scott , Oct 2020

Really great place and scenic views. Great for kids and dogs. Great trail and workout for a one mile hike. Lots of chairs along the way to take breaks if you need to. 36 Bible verses to read as you go.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
