Confirmed from Thomas Point Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Quaint waterfront park with bay & river fishing, ambling paved trails & green expanses.

What runners say about Thomas Point Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (334 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“Nice place to visit for scenic water and nature views but didn't find too many trails or other options for exploring on my short visit.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“It was a very pretty walk out to the point where there is a Pavillion you can rent through Quiet Waters Park.”

A gem of a park, but a complete pain to get to. You’ll drive through a neighborhood of ritzy bayfront homes before you arrive at the gate. From there, it’s maybe 1/4 mile or so to the point but it’s an unpaved one lane road full of potholes.

★★★★★ — Jay , Dec 2025

An historic Anne Arundel County park, it is part of Chesapeake Bay Heritage. Beautiful, natural scenery, with plenty of waterfowl and wildlife. Great for walking, picnicking, and fishing. Great longviews of the Thomas Point lighthouse and Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Nice place to visit for scenic water and nature views but didn't find too many trails or other options for exploring on my short visit. Bring a camera and lunch for a beautiful rest along the bay. Say hi to Dino for me!

★★★★☆ — J , Jan 2023

Great park to see the dinosaur and fish, bike, or walk. The gate is usually open and there are great views of the bay and Bay bridge from the point.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Thomas Point Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
