Confirmed from Thompson Lane Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Great trail head to walk/run at. Highly recommend. It follows the river and is peaceful, with lots of nature and other people running/ walking with their families. You can see deer and rabbits. It’s also very dog friendly. There are some spots your dog can swim in easily as well.

☆This review was corrected on January 3, 2019 after I re-read it and found that I put the description of three separate trailheads together. I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused anyone.

Nice pathway for a stroll. I did almost 5 miles in a wheelchair so the path is mostly flat with some slight inclines and declines. Get out and enjoy the trails within the busy city.

This is just one of the trailheads on the extensive Murfreesboro greenway system. I particularly like the scenery here along the river, and I go there to paint outdoors. There ARE paved pathways, but there are also side paths that often offer the best views.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
