Confirmed from Trail of Heroes' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Area for hiking and birding featuring benches for watching wildlife.
What runners say about Trail of Heroes
“The pond was GORGEOUS light green and when you go down to touch it it looks clear.”
“It used to be a wonderful area to sit on the benches and watch the wildlife in a very peaceful setting.”
This is a great waking trail in KCMO north, right off I 435. There's sidewalk up front around the monuments and sculptures. Then it is wood chip trails. It's well maintained and not many people around. Seems like a gem hiding in plain sight!
Several paths to explore. Mostly dirt and wood chip for the path. Starts of with some gravel but not throughout the whole path. Several benches in place and other monuments to honor as a memorial for fallen officers.
This trail was amazing. It had a fresh dark mulch trail. It had varying landscapes from some hills, to very tall trees, to the pond, to some open prairie type area. Tons of wild flowers throughout. The pond was GORGEOUS light green and when you go down to touch it it looks clear.
Beautiful, touching trail honoring KC's finest 💙. The main trailhead is near the main sign near where it looks like a dead end of the street. It has a few options and does run into Shoal Creek Trail so just be aware of where you are so you don't end up walking more than you expected.
