Confirmed from Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Trailhead
“It's flat (very flat) and I'd say 50% shaded / exposed.”
“Very peaceful, calm, quiet, and very well maintained.”
Paid a visit to the East trail in Ottawa and though it is the least traveled trail in town because most people prefer the west side with the old antique railroad bridge now - renovated into a park. This Eastside trailhead is simple in design, yet it deals a beautiful Woodland tree tunnel of natural beauty.
Parked at Ottawa and walked towards Osawatamie. It's flat (very flat) and I'd say 50% shaded / exposed. Didn't see many bikers, but seems very much like the Katy trail on the missouri side (a rails to trail conversion).
Beautiful bike trail running east to Osawatomie. 10/10 recommend. Flat as a pancake, nearly no hills except for one road crossing you might have to hike your bike across.

“The nice thing about the Flint Hills Trail in Ottawa, there’s different parts and each part has its own personality.”

“There are no bathrooms, no water fountains or any of those.”

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
