Confirmed from Trexler Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly refuge with multiple trails, an observation building and scenic views.
What runners say about Trexler Nature Preserve
“Great views, clean trails, and water.”
“The lights are gorgeous, there's Santa, Disney princesses, the Grinch, hot chocolate (for the kiddos and the adults), and games and activities for the kids.”
One of the MOST beautiful parts of Pennsylvania. Rolling hills, sprawling views, nature at its finest. The walking trails through the park are a MUST do for family's or Solo. Very safe and strong walk. We were able to play in the water this visit and enjoy the hot weather.
“I visited Texler Nature Preserve with my friend for Christmas, and we had a great time. They put on a very beautiful Christmas light show with lots of places to take pictures. We even took photos with the Grinch and a few other characters, which made it extra fun.
This preserve & hiking trail is GORGEOUS. It can get slippery after a storm, but it’s still hike-able. The whole trail is about 9 miles around and is a medium difficulty level. You can see the bison preserve from the trail which is so cool!
My heart is happy knowing we live near some place with this much beauty. We drove through today and will be back for hiking soon. The view was worth every minute and all the cars were driving through at a leisurely pace.

Plan your run at Trexler Nature Preserve
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
