Confirmed from Tuscaloosa River Walk's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Concrete, paved walkway stretching several miles along the Black Warrior River.

“Great place to get out and walk the dog, walk with your spouse and caught up.”
Beautiful space for walking, jogging, biking, and picnic possibilities when the weather is right. It’s paved, dog-friendly and partially shaded.
If you happen to be in town, get a hotel near the River Walk. Great views of the Black Warrior River and good shopping in this area. There's a paved trail along the river that's good for walking or jogging. You'll even see cranes standing near the water's edge.
Although they're in the midst of some construction, it really was beautiful. The trail was paved, clean & very pleasant. I enjoyed all the foliage, bridges & of course the river itself. When you get tired of walking there are two fabulous restaurants (Another Broken Egg & River) right on the trail.
It's such a wonderful place around downtown Tuscaloosa. Since I came to live here, it has been almost every day visiting place and for most people too as I can guest. The black warrior river is long and wide across Alabama and along Tuscaloosa.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
