Confirmed from Twin Lakes Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park aimed at accessible recreation with paved walkways, fishing lakes, boat rentals & playgrounds.
What runners say about Twin Lakes Park
“The trail is wide, well maintained, with no elevation, and it is complemented with benches, pavilions, restrooms and playgrounds/ play area.”
“It’s a beautiful, well-maintained park with an excellent paved trail that makes for an easy and enjoyable walk.”
“Overall, this is a fantastic park for walking, nature observation, or just spending some peaceful time outdoors.”
Circling both lakes, and stopping at the memorial garden, is a 2.2 miles walk which can be completed in less than an hour. You can circle only one lake for about a 1 mile walk, but I recommend taking the longer walk.
Twin Lakes is a very well maintained local county park and is truly great in every season. There are paved paths around the lakes, a trail that branches off and is great for bikes, and other wooded trails and horse trails.
A beautiful park in Westmoreland county for a walk . We walked around the lower park for around a hour with our 2 dogs. Twin lakes is a beautiful park. It is much nicer than most state parks in the area. The trails around the lakes make for a nice day out. The dogs love the park.
Twin Lakes Park is my all time favorite for walking my dogs. I’ve been walking here for over 40 years, when I lived in greensburg and throughout all those years when I return for visits at least twice yearly. 6 of my rescue dogs have immensely enjoyed this park with paved and wooded trails.

Plan your run at Twin Lakes Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
