Confirmed from Twin Peaks Trail Summit's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Twin Peaks Trail Summit

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (46 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Follow the trail until you find the twin peaks trail sign, at this point there is a wide well maintained trail to the right and a narrow trail with growth to the left.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Short-ish distance, but relatively steep uphill climb and few benches/shady areas to rest, but also beautiful views at the top”

A bit confusing, you need to park next to the POWAY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION CENTER on Midland Rd, and walk to the right at the fork on the road to the trail entrance.

Visiting my daughter in Poway and found this gem to satisfy my hiking need! Nice, short and just enough for a good workout!

★★★★★ — Grayson , Apr 2025

Short, but will give you a good workout. Steep incline near the top. Reward you with good view at the top.

★★★★☆ — Danny , Aug 2022

The trailhead from Silverset Park is about 1 mile long with 600 feet of elevation gain. It's a short, steep climb to the top, especially towards the end. There are some rocky sections where you may need to climb rocks. Lots of bee activity on the trail. The view from the top is breathtaking.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
