This place is an easy-to-follow trail that takes you through beautiful nature and eventually connects to the Woodson Trail, which leads to the famous Potato Chip Rock. The hike starts off relatively gentle, but the climb to Potato Chip Rock is more challenging.
This trail is unique in a sense that it literally starts with green trees and shade. The only downside is parking, it’s very small but you can drive further west a block and get left into the traffic light and park in residential area.
Very beautiful area. Very nice fire roads to walk on. Easy slope, gorgeous surroundings. Great for a walk or hike or just getting outdoors. Highly recommended. Enjoy!
I love this trail because it's difficult to find a shaded walk about in san diego county. You have options for two different lakes to walk around and a lovely picnic area. It's a 10 walk for me, can be moderately difficult if you go the full 5.5 miles. The walk around the lake park isn't shaded.
