Confirmed from UConn Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Forested nature area featuring trails for hiking, running and biking, plus a wildlife refuge.
What runners say about UConn Forest
“The UConn forest is a beautiful piece of property!”
“Can be peaceful to walk when you're not going during events at UConn or EO Smith, even Fishing Seasons Opening Day.”
Trails everywhere to explore, was awesome to come back to Storrs and hit a trail run and end up back on horse barn hill. Follow the river and you’ll never get lost. Lots of fun, would highly recommend for anyone interested in the outdoors or anyone up for a little trail run.
A wooded wildlife refuge off Discovery Drive that is home to deer, turkey, fox and many colorful birds.
The trails were nice and well maintained GPS takes you through the uconn colleges spring valley farm which is an amazing place to see cows sheep and horses on beautiful property and country side. There's a hill in the pasture you can watch the sunset.
Nice sets of trails. Can be peaceful to walk when you're not going during events at UConn or EO Smith, even Fishing Seasons Opening Day. Any other time is wonderful, especially in the middle of winter hikes late at night is something to take in.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
