Brought back a lot of memories. I grew up not far away, my first time back in 40 years. "The Cove" was a stomping ground for me and my friends long before there were marked trails, signage etc. We used to get there by walking the LIRR train tracks and sliding down a steep embankment.
Its pretty, a small trail, if u want a small outing, in n out, come here. you cant get lost, pretty birds, they are quiet, n hide so be still if u want to see them
The city ParksDept is doing a good job. Wish they would pull out the invasive plants and vines. They keep pulling down the canopy. We have lost so many trees, and the ones that left are mostly diseased. The next 5 years will tell. See it before, just be careful in the ravine and around the pond on Sand hill road.
Great spot, but beware copious poison ivy & poison sumac on & off the trails
