Confirmed from Union Point Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This little nice riverfront park welcomes you as soon as you enter New Bern. Located on the shore of Neuse River. When I visited it was a bit windy and chilly but I still enjoyed my time there. Good facilities like Picnic Area, benches all over the park, restrooms. Kids really enjoy feeding food to ducks around.

This is a beautiful park on the New Bern waterfront. The pavilion is a great place to just pull out a chair and watch the gorgeous view. The waterfront with beautiful views of the bridge is so relaxing and makes for great photography moments. The paved walkway malkes it's way around the whole waterfront.

My favorite place in New Bern to just sit and enjoy the views. There’s plenty of free parking and public restrooms are available. A cute park for kiddos and lots of seating options along the Riverwalk. This park alone is a great starting point for a nice walk through New Bern.

We enjoy coming to Union Point Park and walking along the water, watching boats and other watercraft, and seeing the various birds. There is plenty of parking, restrooms, and a boat ramp. It’s a quick walk to downtown New Bern and fairly accessible for anyone with mobility needs.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
