Confirmed from Uranium Mine Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Uranium Mine Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (25 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“This was a fun little hike the falls are gorgeous and were flowing high!”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Not much shade at the beginning.”

Awesome hike- uphill right away and then kind of keeps going up and down. You can see the mine and then keep going to the river. Not much shade at the beginning. We saw a moose right off the trail! Nice views and you can see the falls for part of the way.

★★★★☆ — Melissa , Aug 2021

Great little hike up to the mine. Go a little further for a hiking bonus of seeing the river up close. Memorial Day hiking feels like early spring in Steamboat with remaining snow on the mountains and streams running through the hiking trails.

★★★★★ — Allison , May 2024

We enjoyed this out and back trail. The last section can get quite narrow with overgrowth, so wear pants. Lots of bugs too- we used our repellent wipes and were fine. The mine is cool and there is a huge rock nearby if you want a snack or rest. First part is quite sunny with little respite from the sun.

This was a fun little hike the falls are gorgeous and were flowing high!! There is a 5$ per car charge per car in either lot top or bottom.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 10 mentions

“Be prepared to get a little muddy, but you’ll find the views well worth the trip.”
