Confirmed from Urbana Parks & Recreation's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Pet-friendly park with a lake and a playground plus baseball and soccer fields.
What runners say about Urbana Parks & Recreation
“Well maintained park, though there are a lot of waterfowl.”
This park far surpassed my expectations. I think the city of Urbana has done a great job utilizing the incredible space they have for this park. There’s a public pool, large playground area, scenic lake, racquetball courts, baseball fields, a disc golf course, and plenty of stormwater features.
Love the trail and parks urbana has to offer. The large dog park is awesome. 2 sides, one for smaller dogs and the other for the BIG Dawgs. Across the street from the park is a Frisbee park and tennis court. This park also boasts ball diamonds and a small Pavillion for concerts and events the town holds.
Melvin Miller City Park is one of three of my favorite places to visit or hang out at. The walk/bike path is nice. The hill that heads southeast is a challenge traveling by bike. Weaves to the right & takes you toward the Urbana H.S. young Men's baseball diamond & Ladies' Softball field.
Lots to do here. Well maintained park, though there are a lot of waterfowl. Lots of space, kid and pet friendly. Decent amount of shade, though lacking in seating. Great city park overall.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
