Confirmed from Cedar Bog Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This is a nice place to visit to be out in nature. You can easily get to Cedar Bog off of the Simon Kenton bike trail 5 miles outside of Urbana if you choose to get there that way.

We had a wonderful time. There is a donation fee of $5.00 per person. No pets as it is a Nature Preserve. There were volunteers on the boardwalk that were quick to answer questions and highlight some of the foliage and animals. The entirety is a boardwalk trail with benches placed throughout to take a rest if needed.

The boardwalk trail is awesome! One of the best I’ve ever been on. The visitor center is very informative and welcoming. I will definitely be back to witness the different natural events that will happen throughout the year.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🪵 Boardwalk 15 mentions

“The diversity of plant life in the fen and the sedge meadow wetland is incredible, and the stands of northern white cedar along the boardwalk make this place truly unique.”
