Confirmed from Utah Lake Shore Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Utah Lake Shore Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (400 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 16 mentions

“But the rest of the year it's a really beautiful walk especially to watch the sunset.”

This area is only going to improve. It's a great location for running or just going on a walk with the family. There are deer that roam the area and it's fun to see other wildlife. Vineyard City is making huge strides beautifying and developing this area. The sunsets are gorgeous on any given day.

Good trail for the view of the lake and new builds. The trail had some divots and uneven areas but totally bike friendly. Some were rollerblading so heck, maybe all of the above! Mosquitos could get bad in the coming months so I’m trying to enjoy it in the meantime

★★★★☆ — Austin , Mar 2023

This trail exceeded my expectations. I loved enjoying sunset while walking along the trail. I enjoyed watching the ducks swim, and caught a glimpse of 2 beautiful cranes. I enjoyed the sound of a wonderful variety of birds in the grasses. I loved walking down close to the lake and finding a stream and a swing.

★★★★★ — Shaunas , May 2019

Beautiful shore line, especially in the winter with Utah Lake freezing. During winter you will see Eagles, Harrier Hawks & ducks. During warmer weather, you will see geese, ducks & eagles. Best to bring 'muck boots' if you want to walk on the shore itself.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
