We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Valley Falls State Park yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Sprawling 1,145-acre park with waterfalls, 18 miles of trails & a river for fishing & kayaking.
What runners say about Valley Falls State Park
“Great atmosphere, peaceful, always clean and well maintained.”
“Such a beautiful place to visit for the day for a picnic, fishing, walking, or just sitting and looking at the beautiful scenery while listening to the water falls.”
“Beautiful falls with an easy walk from parking lot.”
No hike is needed, the falls are right by the parking lot. No swimming. there are many trails if you feel like hiking. There are a gift shop and a vending machine available for the shoppers! Restrooms are nice and clean.
Beautiful state park. Large amount of parking. There are only porta-potties available. It was wonderful to walk down and around the falls. My son enjoyed rock hopping and exploring all over the bank and around the falls. The gift shop, unfortunately, wasn't open when we were there.
Great park, seemed well maintained. Benches to sit and enjoy the "white noise" of the falls. My first visit, I was pleasantly surprised. Even a cool gazebo near the water's edge. Plenty of parking in the area I visited. I saw trail markers, but did not explore any.
When we visit the area, we always come to this park. Back in the day, my aunt and uncle lived on Rock Lake and we spent summer vacation enjoying this area with our kids. 20 years later, my kids met us in the area for my mother's funeral, and they asked to have family time to come to valley falls the next day.
