Valley View Overlook Trail – The Perfect Pit Stop in the Desert If you’re on a road trip through southern Arizona and looking for a quick but rewarding stop, Valley View Overlook Trail in Saguaro National Park (West) is the perfect detour — minimal effort, maximum desert vibes.
A simple short hike, less than a mile with minimal elevation change with some well maintained steps up & down. A good family hike from the car that could take 30 min round trip or more if you stay at the view site longer. While visiting Saguaro National Park in early May 2022, we walked this fairly easy, 0.8-mile dirt out-and-back trail and really enjoyed it. The Saguaro and other cacti were in bloom at this time, making our experience all the more enjoyable. Be aware this unpaved trail has some up and downs to it and uneven surfaces.
If you are not a big hiker and want a short, rewarding hike, then this trail fits the bill. Clocking in at 0.8 miles, there is only minimal elevation gain towards the end, though it is gravel and uneven terrain, along with a couple spots with steps in the grade, so those with difficulty walking might want to sit this…
